I covered Katherine Lee’s “Fabulous & Flirty Crochet,” not too long ago. It is a great book. If you have a copy, you should get it signed. And if you don’t, you have a chance to pick up a signed copy at two different trunk shows in the Los Angeles area. And get one for a friend – this would make a wonderful gift.
Come to a Book Signing/Trunk Show at my local Barnes & Noble at the Grove/Farmer’s Market shopping center at 3rd & Fairfax!
Come meet me on Thursday, July 13th, at 7:30pm.
The booksigning will be held on the 3rd floor of this nice, big Barnes & Noble.
All of the samples will be available for you to see.
Children are welcome. Have a bite to eat at the Farmer’s Market (we love Moishe’s for Middle Eastern and the Loteria Grill has a fabulous mole sauce!) or one of the great restaurants at the Grove after the signing for a fun summer evening!
The Bonita Knitting Store is a beautiful shop offering fine yarns, classes, books, and free afternoon tea!
Come meet me on Saturday, July 15th, from noon to 4pm.
I’ll be signing books, showing all of the projects, and helping at the free crocheting (and knitting) clinic that they have every Saturday from 2-4pm. There will be light refreshments, a raffle, and more!

Is summer warming up your love life a little? Those beautiful summer nights do make romance bloom in the air. As fireflies flit by and you walk together on the sidewalk enjoying the beautiful evening, it seems Valentine’s Day must be at the wrong time of year. There is something about summer that brings out love.
Sending a card is still one of the most time-honored ways to celebrate love. Today, with the digital age and creativity blending together, there are more options than ever before. I personally love this little “Two Peas in a Pod” card and you can do it all right at home with absolutely no skills at all in crafting.

Did the soap making business I talked about the other day interest you? If so, your first question might have been, “How do I make soap?”
Developing your own unique style, scents and shapes will be something that evolves over time, with practice and a little trial and error. But starting is something you can do right now. Each time you create a new soap, you will learn something, and if you hope to turn your soap making into a business, this is a great place to start.

Summer has just begun and it is time, actually past time, to turn toward the garden and find the expression of color and joy that flowers and plants bring. Most of the crafting work here is already done for you because, as they say, “Only God can make a tree.” But while He made the tree, He wouldn’t mind at all if you did some decorative things around it! Get your family together and turn a Saturday into a garden crafting day.
There are two crafts that I especially like at the link below. They are all cute, but two really caught my eye. One is the Dove Windchimes (that was predictible since I collect windchimes) and the other is the Keepsake Stepping Stone. I love that all of the instructions are provided and the crafts are inexpensive. And if your children are young, you will be so glad you did these stepping stones. I wish I had some of my kids from years ago.
Take a look. There are some cute things that will add some personality to your yard and garden and it will be a wonderful way for your family to spend some great time together.
