A Cute Little Votive Candle

I found the cutest little candle holder. It is for a votive candle and I am sure once you see the idea, you will come up with many variations. The example provided is a little fish - it would be adorable in a guest bathroom. But how about a rose, for a nightstand? Or a dragonfly? A stork as a baby shower gift would be nice. And a graduate would enjoy a traditional cap and the year. This idea has no end - it will only be limited by your imagination, which of course, has no limit!

Rubber Duckie, You’re The One

I have a thing for rubber duckies. I decorate my bathroom in them. And I am still mad that someone threw away my “real” rubber duck many years ago. But I found some cute ones to fix up to decorate your bathroom, or present as a gift to your rubber duck collector friends.

Crocheted Jelly Bean Duck - Just make him yellow with an orange bill!

Crocheted Easter Duck - Now don’t brush this off. Some color modifications would make it adorable.

Digital Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking is very popular right now. It is a hobby that mixes memories and crafts; it creates lasting memories for future generations. There are tools, equipment, and is a wonderful outlet for creative expression. There is another fun way to do scrapbooking though and it is perfect for those living in the digital generation. Have you considered digital scrapbooking?

Two Peas Digital has an entire section devoted to digital scrapbooking. They have everything you need to get started: Fonts, digital kits, message boards, articles to help you learn, and even challenges to enter. They also have a gallery - believe me, looking at the work others have created will inspire you to get busy.

It is a lot of fun and while you are busy crafting away in your binary world, you will create memories that will last a lifetime or longer.

The Contemporary Beauty of Art Quilting

Art quilting is a contemporary style of quilting that is absolutely breathtaking. According to Quilt National:

The work must possess the basic structural characteristics of a quilt. It must be predominantly fabric or fabric-like material and must be composed of at least two full and distinct layers - a face layer and a backing layer. The face layer may be described by any or a combination of the following terms: pieced, appliqued, whole cloth, stitched/fused to a foundation. The face and backing layers must be held together by hand- or machine-made functional quilting stitches or other elements that pierce all layers and are distributed throughout the surface of the work. At least some of these stitches or elements should be visible on the back of the work. As an alternative, the work may be a modular construction (an assemblage of smaller quilts). Each individual module, however, must meet the above structural criteria.

I found the loveliest examples of art quilting online when I found Sue Benner’s Web site. She has on her site links to places she is appearing as well as links to places that sell her work. But my favorite part of the site is the gallery, or portfolio. I had a hard time deciding which section of the portfolio was my favorite, but I think it is Fugue Series. These are incredible works of art, all done through the medium of quilting.

Visiting Sue Benner’s site will certainly inspire other artists and quilters. She has a talent and gift of expression that can only motivate the rest of us to perfect our skills.
