Welcome to Craftmodo!!

Welcome to Craftmodo!  My name is Adelle Tilton and I have been involved with crafts for… well, as long as I can remember.  I have done knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, needlepoint, sewing, papermaking and sculpting, beading, a little painting… the list is longer, but that gives you the idea.  My favorite craft is knitting; I find in knitting a peace and satisfaction that no other craft has been able to give to me.  And I know whatever your favorite craft is, you feel the same way about it.

One of the best things about crafting is the ability it gives us to reach out to others.  Charitable work is an important thing for us humans.  It makes us feel better about ourselves to help another person out.  And not only does it meet a need of the recipient, it connects the recipient to the giver, and helps end the feeling of isolation.

Isolation.  That is one of the toughest things anyone can experience.  Crafters are in a unique position to help end that isolated feeling that people all over the world go through when something tragic happens.  That tragic event can be a small scale event that only that one person experiences – an illness, loss of a job, house, or loved one, for example.  It can be a global event, as we saw with the victims of the Tsunami or the hurricanes that hit the New Orleans area.  Either way, crafters are in a unique position to help.

Crafters put a great deal of their hearts and souls into their work.  When they create something like an afghan or a pair of socks, using knitting as an example, and give it to someone else, that person can feel the caring that has gone into the work.  A hand sewn teddy bear may not be as perfect as a store-bought one, but it is ten times better for the love it delivers.  And this is true for all crafts, all crafters, and all who receive the projects that have been created.

That is what this blog is all about.  Connecting the crafters who work for others, who take the time to reach out to others, with each other.  I will also bring you information on patterns, supplies, and good sales to help you save some money.  Organizations that would like to have more members to help in the work they do, can network here and grow in membership to help more people.

To learn more about me personally, you can read an interview I did for b5media in January of this year.  I have various projects that I do in my career as a writer, but the one most relevant to this blog would be Hankering For Yarn, my blog about knitting and crocheting.

I look forward to your comments and hearing about the work you do to reach out to others.  Please email me any time about you or your group.  I’ll be happy to let others know about the work you do, if you would like.

Thanks for reading!  I hope I can bring you the information that makes your giving to others an even more joyful experience!
